Without any hints or leads, Los Angeles rock band Say Anything dropped their new album I Don't Think It Is on YouTube. Listen above.

Say Anything's previous album Hebrews was released June 10, 2014. The new album proves to be progressively different from the band's earlier perky, lyric-driven music. In a statement on sayanythingmusic.com, frontman Max Bemis explains what the intentions of I Don't Think It Is were:

My team and I decided to forego the dying art of the lead‐up and share our new record I Don't Think It Is with you, right now, with no warning. Why? Obvious. I want to be like Bey. Not‐really‐kidding aside, I've become a bit weary of doing the same song and dance leading up to the actual endgame, people actually listening to something. It also seems to fit with the core of this record: me destroying any notion of feeling blasé about music.

The recent history of Say Anything has been totally affirming. There was a nice little reaction to our last record, Hebrews, which was a step towards "progressive" (or "doing whatever the hell I want"). I suppose we have earned the right to remain somewhat vital. However, that entails trying new things. So without any plans for how it would turnout, I introduced a wild card into the equation...

(You can read the rest on Say Anything's website).

The album starts with "Give a Damn," the anthem of not caring what anyone has to say, which suits the band's new style. The song is aggressive with loud vocals, intrusive lyrics, and edgy guitars. Say Anything asked fans to submit vocals to be featured in the song. In a tweet, Max Bemis stated that everyone who submitted made it on the album.

The third track, "Rum," is a slower song with raspy vocals and impressive drums. Following is the one and half minute upbeat, punk sounding song, "So Numb." "Jiminy," the sixth track is more melodious with rhythmic guitar riffs, emotional vocals, and laid-back beats.

Songs we recommend are "Give A Damn," "Rum," "So Numb," "Jiminy," "#Blessed," and "Attaboy."

I Don't Think It Is will be available for digital download on February 5, 2016. You can pick it up on Amazon or stream it on Spotify. The physical album will be available on February 15 on their merch site.
