Lovers of rootsy alternative rock will definitely want to check out this stunning performance by Valley Queen, a fresh new band from Los Angeles.

When we say "fresh," we mean it. They have never put out an album, and have only three songs on their Bandcamp right now. They sound great, and have a lot of concerts scheduled, so be sure to catch them live in small venues while you still can.

Valley Queen frontwoman Natalie Carol reminds us of a cross between Joni Mitchell and Hop Along's Frances Quinlan, as she croons passion-sweetened, country-rooted vocals that roll and splash through her band's music with a playful edge. (Also, be sure to check out Hop Along's extraordinary NPR Tiny Desk Concert.) The band delivers mesmerizing tunes that buoy Carol's honest and powerful voice with danceable grooves.
