Postmodern Jukebox have gained a reputation for doing incredible jazz versions of popular songs from all genres. In their latest video release, you can watch their take on Aerosmith's classic rock opus "Dream On," which blends rock, pop, jazz, R&B, and classical to create something truly mesmerizing and Beatles-esque in all the right ways.
For those unfamiliar with the group, Pianist Scott Bradlee is the band leader / musical arranger and they have a rotating cast of musicians and singers from song to song. Above, you can watch the beautiful Morgan James give a passionate performance backed by a dynamic group consisting of drums, upright bass, cello, violin, and viola.
Halfway through the song, Artyom Manukyan's cello solo is a nice breakdown that draws from the guitar lead on Aerosmith's 1973 tune that appeared on their self-titled debut album. This song has a little bit of everything, from smooth to gritty and triumph to heartbreak.
PMJ's version of "Dream On" appears on their most recent album, Squad Goals. Check that out on Spotify and Amazon.
