Wussy's Forever Sounds, the band's sixth studio LP, pits the ever-deft lyrics of Chuck Cleaver and Lisa Walker against a swirl of noisy guitar that threatens to swallow them whole. Bigger and meaner than 2014's Attica!, Forever Sounds leaps from Attica!'s heaviest track, "Rainbows & Butterflies," into a swamp of woolly distortion and hulking percussion.

As Cleaver and Walker wail through the storm, their voices reach past the awesome drone of the album and the insane, ruthless noise that week-by-week weighs more heavily upon us all. On Forever Sounds, Wussy is here as a foreboding ghost to bear witness to vast murder and conspiracy. They're here to tell of the "righteous arm" that will "strike you down" and "keep you warm," all in the same stroke.

When the tempest quiets down, the fragile final lines of "My Parade" are the most immediate: "If you've given your heart to yesterday, stay right where you are / But if you're playing a part in the great escape, I'll meet you at the car." Where is that car headed? I, for one, will be tuning in to find out.

Highlights of Forever Sounds include "She's Killed Hundreds," "Gone," "Hand of God," "Majestic-12," and "My Parade."
