Sonic Youth bassist Kim Gordon has shared a heavy new song titled "Murdered Out." Listen to it above, courtesy of Matador Records' YouTube.

Following Sonic Youth's split in 2011, Gordon has been involved in projects including Body/Head and Glitterbust. "Murdered Out" is actually the first solo single in Gordon's career. In a press release, Kim explained how the song was inspired by the car scene in Los Angeles:

When I moved back to LA I noticed more and more cars painted with black matte spray, tinted windows, blackened logos, and black wheels. This was something I had occasionally seen in the past, part of low-rider car culture. A reclaiming of a corporate symbol of American success, The Car, from an outsider’s point of view. A statement-making rejection of the shiny brand new look, the idea of a new start, the promise of power, and the freedom on the open road. Like an option on a voting ballot, “none of the above."

For the song, Kim collaborated with Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa and producer Justin Raisen. "Murdered Out" features a slinky bassline and hypnotizing drum beats under Kim's seductive vocals, adding an industrial feel to the song.
