Last week, L.A rock duo Deap Vally released their second album, Femejism, through Nevado Music. Band members on the 13-track LP consist of Lindsey Troy (guitar, vocals) and Julie Edwards (drums, vocals). The album cover artwork was created by Rachel McCollum, aka Milo tv.

If you like your rock music dirty, gritty, and full of energy, then Femejism is what you're looking for. Guitarist Lindsey Troy's distorted guitar riffs are soaked with intensity, and drummer Julie Edwards' drumming is the heartbeat behind many of the tracks.

Julie shared some insight about the new LP with Rolling Stone:

We had complete freedom... We basically financed the record ourselves, and there was nobody waiting to hear versions or demos or give input or anything like that. We had this beautiful, wonderful freedom to express our creativity and our vision and our points of view.

Lindsey spoke about collaborating with Yeah Yeah Yeah's guitarist Nick Zinner and the advice he gave the band:

We really were letting ourselves be open to whatever came through us... We were working with Nick Zinner, and his guidance was, "Don't be neurotic about if it sounds like Deap Vally or not. You can worry about that later. Just write." That was very liberating, to not have to be analyzing what we were working on while we were doing it.

Songs we like are "Royal Jelly," "Julian," "Little Baby Beauty Queen," "Smile More," "Grunge Band," and "Turn It Off."

Pick up Femejism on Amazon. You can also stream the full album for free above, via Spotify.

The band are currently on tour in Europe, then will join up on October 11, 2016 for North American shows with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Death From Above 1979. For more music, news, and tour information about Deap Vally, check out their Zumic artist page.
