As Martin Luther King Jr. Day approached last night, J. Cole released a single on SoundCloud called "High for Hours." Stream it above on SoundCloud.

Backed by smooth and funky production by Elite & Cam O'bi, "High for Hours" has a deep emotional feel that fits the ambitious lyricism. The song is one of the most politically driven in J. Cole's catalog, as he raps about race, religion, and history in the USA. The second verse centers around a conversation J. Cole had with President Barrack Obama when they met in 2016, while the first and third verses take a deep look at the nature of revolution and abuses of power.

Late in 2016, Cole released the album 4 Your Eyez Only.
