Fresh off the success of 13 Reasons Why, Selena Gomez returns to the music world with "Bad Liar," an understated and sweet track co-written with collaborators Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels.
"Bad Liar" features an interpolation of a classic groove by the Talking Heads (Tina Weymouth's bass line from "Psycho Killer”). In an interview with Variety, Tranter shared, "Selena and Julia are Talking Heads-obsessed, so when we all got together in one room, Julia suggested, 'Why don’t we just write over the bassline from 'Psycho Killer?' and we were all going, 'That sounds great!'" Tranter also shared the direction of the Selena Gomez album in progress, "Selena is where she always is, ahead of the f-ing curve… The music is very sexy, very smart and right where we left off the last time."
With its Regina Spektor-tinged vocals and feel-good rhythm, Selena's new song is the perfect transition from Spring to Summer.
