The man who redefined playing electric guitar, Eddie Van Halen, was diagnosed with diverticulitis in August of 2012 and underwent emergency surgery.  Now it looks like he's on the road to a full recovery.  Check out this photo of Eddie working in the studio, posted to his official facebook page:

Van Halen's son Wolfgang has also hinted at new material from his fathers group. Wolfgang, who is no stranger to the music business, has toured with his fathers band since its 2007 reunion when he was only 16 years old! Now I don't know many 16 year olds who have toured with a world famous rock n roll group, do you?

Now 21 years old, Wolfgang moonlights as bassist for Creed guitarist, Mark Tremonti's metal band Tremonti. Helping to craft their next studio album, Wolfgang says:

"During sound check we'll jam some stuff out. Van Halen is definitely the priority, but whenever Van Halen isn't doing anything, I treat this as another band I'm legitimately in. I'm really excited to be on the next record and have some sort of influence on the writing."

On the subject of a new Van Halen record Wolfgang had only this to say "Oh yeah, there's plenty of other ideas laying around, and some new stuff that we've been working on, too, You never know what'll happen." So Van Halen fans be on the look out for a new album and tour in the coming months of 2013.
