Ryan Adams Announces New Album And First Full Band Show Since 2009

Lots of information from the Ryan Adams camp today as it was announced that he'll be playing with a full backing band for the first time since 2009 and that they will be debuting some material from a new record. The Noel Gallagher curated "Teenage Cancer Trust" concert takes place at Royal Albert Hall in London on March 19th. Although the backing band is unknown, longtime Adams collaborator Beth Orton has already been announced as a special guest.

The Hall sparked the excitement by posting that “The show will feature the debut of new songs from his as-yet-untitled new album due for release in the autumn alongside classics from his extensive catalogue.” Tickets are available via Royal Albert Hall's website and one would imagine will not be available very long.

Adams retired from touring and disbanded his band The Cardinals in 2009 citing vertigo-causing inner ear problems that have plauged him for years.  Adams was newly sober, newly married to Mandy Moore and for once he seemed to be at peace, playing only sporadic solo shows in very small spurts. It's hard to begrudge a fella for staying home and being in love, but this is welcome news as Adams' shows were typically fantastic... when he didn't behave erratically from vertigo or substances or a  hellish combination of both.

No word yet on exactly who the members of the band will be, but it has been reported that Adams reunited with his Ashes & Fire producer, Glyn Johns.  Johns' resume is remarkable: Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Band, Led Zeppelin, The Stones, The Clash... pretty much everyone. Whatever band the two assembled will likely be the one that makes it's debut with Ryan on March 19th.
