Dave Grohl is a busy man in Austin this week. Last night he screened his film debut, Sound City at the Paramount, and today he kicked off SXSW's Music and Media conference with a keynote address that was streamed online via NPR Music.

During the speech, he talked candidly about turning points in his career such as when he decided to become a musician, joining Nirvana, the passing of Kurt Cobain, the development of the Foo Fighters, and his latest film project Sound City.

And that's not all, tonight Grohl will assemble with his all-star cast and Sound City will play a set at Stubbs. After SXSW, draws to a close Foo Fighter's fans will be stoked to know there is a new album on the horizon. In an interview with Billbboard, he says he has a "a crazy idea of what I want to do with the next record and how we record it. It's not conventional. It won't be a conventional record."
