Over the weekend, a copy of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band autographed by all 4 of the Beatles sold for $290,500 at auction.
Before the auction, the estimated value was $30,000 but that didn't stop collectors from bidding the price up to $120,000 during the pre-auction bid period.
The Hollywood Reporter says that "The Fab Four are believed to have signed the cover near the June 1967 release of Sgt. Pepper's. The previous record for a signed Beatles album cover was the $150,000 paid for a copy of Meet the Beatles."
Unfortunately, this was a private auction so the money won't be going to any type of charity or social organization associated with The Beatles unless the seller decides to do that after the fact.
