NOTE FROM THE EDITOR: At the time of this post, the auction was not yet over.  The auction is set to close on April 15th.

Original sheet music to 150 of the Beach Boys original songs were sold for nearly £7m at auction after being discovered in a garage in Florida.

The archive spans all of the beach boy's history, including such hits as 'God Only Knows', 'I Get Around' and 'Surfin' USA'. Aside from Sheet music, the lot also included handwritten lyrics, recording contracts, signed copyright certificates, royalty cheques and personal letters. The unnamed music company that was selling the material just bought a few hundred pounds.

It was determined that an associate of the band left the collection in the 1970s. It was ruled a "fair find" by a court and that no members of the band will profit from the sale. It will be put on display at theLondon's Hard Rock Cafe from next week and is being sold by auctioneers Fame Bureau from May 15. Speaking to The Express, Ted Owen, of the Fame Bureau, said: "This archive was lost over the course of time. But it is like the Bible of the Beach Boys career – and it was discovered by chance."

Meanwhile, relationships between The Beach Boys have worsened this week with the news that Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks have extended their Summer tour. The three started playing live after Mike Love vowed to continue using the band name and perform live against the rest of the Bandmates will.
