Check out this great documentary on the institution that DFA Records has become and how they got here in the past 12 years. The film, entitled 12 Years Of DFA: Too Old To Be New, Too New To Be Classic, features interviews with label founders James Murphy and Jonathon Galkin as well as almost every DFA artist discussing the genesis, present and future of the label. It also features Kris Peterson, who I mistook for a well informed intern at the DFA booth at the recent Brooklyn Record Fair, but is actually the third in command at the DFA offices. I'd like to apologize Kris, you just look like you're 15 guy... way too kill it though. Um... do you need an intern?

Check out the 13 minute doc below:

12 Years Of DFA... was made for Red Bull Music Academy's month long celebration of sorts in New York City. The program is pretty amazing and features the likes of Erykah Badu, Flying Lotus and the aforementioned Mr. Murphy. On May 25th RBMA is having a celebration of the 12 years of DFA, with nine hours of performances by various artists on the label. My dancing shoes are ready.
