Daft Punk Join Britain's Lotus 1 Team At Monaco Grand Prix

This past Sunday, Daft Punk drove in the Monaco Grand Prix Formula 1 Race, err wait, no. Daft Punk joined a team of British drivers and an awesomely Daft Punk-y Lotus 1 car at the Monaco Grand Prix. They could have driven in the race since they did have the helmets on already. The full-coverage driving suits were fitting too.

What vision! If it takes heavy self-promotion that on the one superficial level seems solely ego-boosting, then let it seem that way. You can't escape the Daft Punk ads online which, frankly, irritated me. But now I get it.

Their album Random Access Memories, "RAM", is a collaboration with some of the most innovative and visionary talents in music, including one of the originals in the Daft Punk genre of electronic music. Giorgio Morodor, a true creator since the late 60s and early 70s, wanted to bridge the established music of the '50s and '60s with the sound of the future. What was that sound of the future? Giorgio introduced the synthesizer.

Daft Punk were in their natural habitat at the Monaco Grand Prix, at least aesthetically. If "the robots", as Pharrell Williams calls them, can promote their album of massive collaborations with mega-talents to chip away at the future of new music, then please, let's all clear the start line for them!
