“I’ve forever driven the streets of Philadelphia wondering, when are we getting our mural?”

That’s a reasonable question for Questlove of The Roots to ask considering the more than 3,600 official pieces of mural art around Philly created by the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program.

As Spin.com reports, The Roots firmly committed to their home city, return to Philadelphia every year to celebrate and perform in the Roots Picnic concert. Not only did Philly enjoy the 2013 Roots Picnic Concert this past weekend, on Friday May 31st, The Roots were present for the dedication ceremony of their mural on the World Communications Charter School at South St.

Who are the artists behind this fantastic mural? The Amber Design Collective, a local group of artists in Philadelphia, were selected after the Mural Arts Program posted a national open call for the project. In the city of fraternity, hiring your local artist brother is a most welcome result!

Questlove and the Roots: you have your Philadelphia mural. Congratulations!
