Dr. Dog's album B-Room is slated for an official October 1st release on ANTI- Records. Like so many albums these days, you can hear the whole thing for free a week ahead of the release date through an authorized internet stream. Check it out:
Dr. Dog are among a handful of contemporary bands who are keeping the rock idiom fresh while playing off the tradition of rock music from the '60s and '70s. Among the indie and alternative bands out there right now, Dr. Dog is among the very best at crafting a nuanced song that's fun and actually says something interesting.
This is the Philadelphia quartet's 7th full length album, following the success of 2012's Be the Void which made the top 10 in Billboard's Independent and Alternative Rock charts. It's the first album recorded in their very own newly built studio, hence the namesake and cover image of the album: B-Room. In their new studio, the B-Room is where musicians were able to work on new ideas while others were recording in the A-Room.
Our office has been rockin' to this today. Dr. Dog is among the best at creating a soulful vocal hook over a rootsy rock groove. You can hear shades of classic San Francisco, Memphis, and London in this album. The band achieves a sound that's earthy and at the same time, psychedelic. Let us know what you think in the comments.
