Robin Thicke released the fun-filled video for his new Nicki Minaj-assisted single, "Back Together." The song will be featured on Thicke's upcoming album, Morning Sun. We have yet to learn of a release date for the album.
By reading the song's title alone, you may assume that this is another attempt of Robin to win back his estranged wife, Paula Patton. Actually, it's not. In an interview with ABC's Good Morning America, he stated:
I didn't write the song... I just heard this idea of getting back together and getting yourself back together and, you know, what I was going through at the time I really related to that and connected with it. It’s more about the theme of getting yourself back together with love and partnership.
Produced by Max Martin, "Back Together" is an energetic, upbeat tune that centers around Robin's need to be emotionally healed. The song is well complemented by an entertaining verse from Nicki Minaj. This isn't the first time Robin and Nicki collaborated. The two joined forces for Thicke's 2011 single "Shakin' It 4 Daddy."
Shot in Miami, the video features Thicke and his comrades enjoying a beautiful, retro pool party. There's always room for comedy. At the end of Nicki's verse, Robin extends his hand to her and she rejects him. Maybe next time Robin.
