On the day of the release of their third album, III, jazz trio BadBadNotGood performed in a basement in their hometown, Toronto, and it was filmed by the Boiler Room. Watch the set, which is around 45 minutes in length, above (they start playing around the seven minute mark).
Mostly performing new and old original tracks, BBNG also did an extended, very jammy cover of Flying Lotus' "Putty Boy Strut." Tracks from III were given energetic, free-flowing renditions highlighted by the trio's visible chemistry, the likes of which allow them to make drastic musical shifts on a dime. Even if jazz isn't usually your "thing," BBNG's skills, charm and adoration of hip hop may be enough to win you over.
