A new report from the BBC claims that about half of Justin Bieber's Twitter followers are fake. I'm sure he was crushed, as he has been known to boast about his Twitter following. The cat's out of the bag Biebs!

The website Socialbakers research finds that only 17.8 million of Justin Bieber's 37.3 million followers are linked to real accounts. That means only 47 percent are actual Beliebers.

Socialbakers finds these fake accounts by checking if an artists' followers post spam or genuine tweets. Fake accounts tweet key words such as "make money," "diet," and "work from home." Compared to Lady Gaga in terms of real fans, Justin Bieber falls behind her 19 million genuine fans on Twitter.
