Gem Archer, guitarist of Liam Gallagher's band Beady Eye, suffered a head injury prompting a hospital visit this past Thursday August 1st. Beady Eye's official website posted on August 5th that Archer "was hospitalized with severe head trauma. He is currently in a stable condition but continues to stay in hospital under observation." Archer's head injury led to the immediate cancellation of Beady Eye's shows in Belgium and Japan.
The circumstances of Gem Archer's head injury were left a mystery up until yesterday when The Sun reported the guitarist fractured his skull after falling down a flight of stairs at his home. NME reported a source told The Sun, "It was a freak accident. Gem was at home with his family when he fell. The injury he suffered is very serious and his family were really worried. He's had several scans in hospital to ensure there's no longterm damage."
Gem Archer was discharged from the hospital August 7th. Also on August 8th, the band announced they have cancelled all shows and prior commitments in August, in order to support Archer in his recovery.
