Just as Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk did a few months ago, Beck has curated a playlist on Spotify. Listen to all 31 songs above.
Bookended by ambient pieces -- one by Brian Eno and Cluster, the other by Faust -- the playlist is quite eclectic, containing genres ranging from samba to synth pop. For an artist like Beck who dabbles in a wide array of styles and sounds, it's interesting to see his various influences all laid out like this. The amazing thing about this playlist is that, despite its plethora of genres, you can hear a little bit of Beck's discography in everything. Whereas the smooth funk of Midnite Vultures takes cues from Stevie Wonder's "Golden Lady," the somber Sea Change owes quite a bit to singer-songwriters like Neil Young and Joni Mitchell.
Stream the whole thing above, and check out Beck's recent stand-alone single "Gimme."
