"Belle Glade Missionaries" - of Montreal [Soundcloud Audio]

Athens, GA rockers of Montreal have a new album coming out on October 8th called Lousy with Sylvianbriar. Today they released the song "Belle Glade Missionaries" through Polyvinyl Records' SoundCloud page. Listen above.

The sound is quite psychedelic, with a wide range of sonic textures that range from bright and bouncy to dark and strange. In the first verse we hear a reference to stealing cocaine, which sets the tone for a strange trip over the nearly 6 minutes of the song. Also some interesting lyricism about "drug induced schizophrenia" and the difference in feel between "organic" and "synthetic" as analog keyboards ring out like it were some Bob Dylan outtake from 1965. The chorus has a socio-political message as Kevin Barnes sneers, "They're letting children get blown up in their schools today, so they can get them back into their factories."

This is technically the third single to be released from Lousy with Sylvianbriar, following "Fugitive Air" and "She Ain't Speaking Now."
