Looking back in time, the rise of disco took over the '70s, the '80s were a period dedicated to the birth of techno and house, while the '90s put an emphasis on dance-pop. Now that it's 2016, electronic dance music has become increasingly popular and as its influence has seeped into other genres some would say it has become a dominant force. Halfway through the year, we decided to reflect on a few tracks that have made an impact in music by providing you with the best electronic songs of 2016 (so far).
Electronic music is a genre that can be broken down into multiple sub-groups depending on a specific BPM rate, which include deep / progressive house, techno, trap, dubstep, nu disco, funk, trance, and more. Aside from the successful, high-energy radio hits like "Don't Let Me Down," "Paradise," "Mean What I Mean," and "Never Forget You," we also added a few downtempo house tracks like "Just a Lover." "Disparate," "Stolen Phone," and "Division" have an ample amount of experimental sound, while "Silhouette," "It's Strange," and "All My Friends" consist of a breezier synth beat. "Wow," a song by Beck, contains a new alternative take on electronic music.
