In the spirit of honoring the music legacy of Michael Jackson, a collaborative effort from some of music's top producers has led to a new album from MJ titled Xscape.
The man behind the push for this album's release, despite the disappointing 2011 Immortal album, is mega producer L.A. Reid. Reid shared during a Billboard magazine interview that he felt compelled to do "something really special" with Michael's music and bring him back into today's music. Reid brought on producers such as Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, J-Roc, John McClaine and Stargate (which includes Erik Hermansen & Mikkel Storleer).
Timbaland, the album's lead producer, says the album is intended to blend in with the sounds of today's music. Producer Rodney Jerkins confessed he was hesitant to join the project having previously worked with MJ in the past. However, after hearing the material they would be working with, he felt it could be a "classic album." Stargate shared similar reservations but came on board once realizing the album's potential.
The album features unreleased recordings spanning from Michael's post-Thriller days up to the Invincible album release. Xscape will be released in deluxe format on May 15th, 2014 and you can pre-order it through Amazon.
