Black Flag have had a tumultuous couple years, but they've just announced a massive North American tour with pro-skater / new vocalist Mike Vallely beginning in Midland, Texas on May 15th. The recent departure of bassist Dave Klein and the onstage parting-of-ways with Ron Reyes led to an uncertain future for this incarnation of the band, but -- somehow -- they're pressing on.
Speaking in a press release, guitarist and lone original member Greg Ginn says, "[Vallely] is the perfect frontman to capture what Black Flag was, is and will be.”
Vallely himself also describes his feelings:
“I’m excited about performing songs from the entire Black Flag catalog. I feel confident in my ability to communicate the songs — To give them their due respect and yet still make them my own. Ginn’s songwriting is truly timeless and it gives all of the material relevance right here, right now.”
Ticket pre-sale for select dates begins through Live Nation as early as March 20th at 9:00 AM, but most tickets will go on sale at 10:00 AM March 21st. Tickets will be on sale through a variety of retailers, so check out Ticketmaster, Bandsintown, and Black Flag's official website for more details.
