Black Moon Spell by King Tuff is the follow up to his self-titled release from May 2012, and was produced in Los Angeles, California by Bobby Harlow, known for his work with Gap Dream and Burger Records. It is due to release next week on September 23rd. Check it out above.

Kyle Thomas aka King Tuff showcases his eclectic and vast sound, and is at his best on Black Moon Spell. The album features a ton of mixed genres that all blend into one unique universe of sound. Each track seems to go on a nostalgic journey through rock and roll history, hitting up the '60s surf and garage rock scene, passing through the psychedelic scene, and picking up some sci-fi twists and humor along the way. It's the kind of sound that hypnotized kids from the '50s, making them take drugs and live and breathe rock and roll.

The tone and recording quality is totally garage rock-inspired. The guitars are all fuzzy and muddy, reminiscent of that classic '60s and '70s rock tone. Kyle Thomas' high pitched and nasally voice compliments the music too, and helps establish their DIY sound. To showcase some diversity, songs like "Eyes Of The Muse" go into a southern rock/T-Rex-inspired dimension. The following track, "Staircase Of Diamonds," is King Tuff releasing his inner Beatles and Pink Floyd with some psychedelia and acoustic guitars. There are nice, twangy delay guitar fills and female vocal harmonies in the background, providing some nice atmosphere. After that brief trip, King Tuff closes out the album by returning to classic rock and roll with "Eddie's Song."

Overall this is a fun and original sounding record that everyone, even old-timers, should check out, especially if they would like to go on a nostalgic trip back to the peak of rock and roll.

Black Moon Spell is available on CD, digital download, and vinyl for pre-order on Amazon.
