Prolific beatmaker Madlib has made a habit of releasing albums built entirely on samples from specific eras, regions, or genres of music, usually as part of his Beat Konducta or Madlib Medicine Show series. For Rock Konducta Vol. 1, the latest of these albums, Madlib delves into African rock music from the '70s.

"Black Widow," the first track we've heard from the album, is typically grimy Madlib joint with fair bit of hypnotic psychedelia thrown in. Starting off as a noisy rave-up, the tempo eventually slows to incorporate hard-hitting drums, a distant organ and a raga-esque guitar -- pretty trippy stuff.

Check out Madlib's previously-released Rock Konducta 7", and stay tuned for an official release for Rock Konducta Vol. 1 in December of 2013. That's the album's White Album-inspired artwork below.
