Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams, and T.I. bring the funk to the hit track in their "Blurred Lines" video. Pharrell's opening "Everybody Get Up" line followed by his high-pitch soul shout is delightful. Wearing suits and chasing after beautiful women in a knees-bent, get-down groove march, all three fellas are bearing the soul reminiscent to Marvin Gaye's "Got To Give It Up", the song Pharrell and Robin were pursuing in inspirational terms.
But let's go back two to three decades and think about the Cosby's opening credits reel now. Do you remember the basic gray-color set and, more importantly, family dance time? The jazziness that comes out of each family member upends the imagination. How can each person in the cast bear so much genuine groove? That's a quality that cannot be imitated - you're groovin' or you're not. The Cosby family's dancing over the "Blurred Lines" track burns out the plastic the glam models in the original video are wearing. Strut your stuff all you want, but you cannot compete with Phylicia Ayers-Allen or the little sprite Keshia Knight Pulliam. Thank you for this gem, Garlic Jackson Comedy.
