Owen is the solo project of Chicago emo trailblazer Mike Kinsella, of American Football, and formerly with Cap'n Jazz, Owls, and Joan of Arc. On December 2nd, he's coming out with his 9th record, Other People's Songs. You can listen to his cover of "Borne On The FM Waves Of The Heart" by Against Me! above.

The original version of this song featured Tegan Quin of Tegan and Sara, so Owen brought in singer/songwriter Sarah Mitchell to play her part. Their vocal dynamic is soft and serene and the two play off each other well. The instrumentation is delicate but also complex, with Kinsella showcasing some deft finger picking on the acoustic guitar. There are beautiful strings added in the background to add dimension to the track. The overall comforting feel of the tune makes it a perfect soundtrack to the fall and winter. It's the type of song you'd listen to sitting inside on a rainy or snowy day.

Other People's Songs will be released December 2nd on Polyvinyl records. The record is currently available for pre-order at the Polyvinyl Records store.
