After the death of frontman and co-founder Pete Shelley in 2018, the future was uncertain for the Buzzcocks. With four shows so far in 2019 and another eight-date UK tour added for December, the band is clearly determined to keep on rocking.
Stepping in as the lead vocalist is longtime guitarist Steve Diggle, who has been in the Buzzcocks since before their 1978 debut album, Another Music in a Different Kitchen. He is joined by Danny Farrant on drums and Chris Remington on bass, who joined the band in 2006 and 2008, respectively. The newly announced tour starts on December 11, tickets are now on sale.

On June 21 of 2019, Buzzcocks performed a special tribute concert at Royal Albert Hall to celebrate the life and music of Pete Shelley. With the help of some of the most influential figures in punk and alternative music — including original Buzzcocks Steve Garvey and John Maher, Dave Vanian and Captain Sensible of the Damned, and Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth — the band played hits and crowd-pleasers like "Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)," "What Do I Get," and many more.
