Prince's electric performance on last night's Chris Rock-hosted Saturday Night Live shattered the show's traditional musical guest format. Rather than play the typical two songs, The Purple One combined both timeslots into one eight-minute jam.

The artist played a medley of new songs, all coming from his new albums PLECTRUMELECTRUM and Art Official Age. Accompanied by Lianne La Havas, Prince kicked off the epic performance on piano with "Clouds." The soulful performance quickly segued into a guitar-led rock fest, with 3RDEYEGIRL playing the intro to "Plectrum Electrum" while Prince switched instruments. "Marz" and "Another Love" were both marked by extraordinary musicianship, with Prince and 3RDEYEGIRL guitarist Donna Grantis bouncing expertly played leads back and forth. Unsurprisingly, the impassioned performance was one of the strongest SNL concerts of recent memory. Watch the full medley above.

You can pick up PLECTRUMELECTRUM at Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3) and iTunes, and Art Official Age at Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3) and iTunes.
