Atlanta rockers Mastodon have released a new EP titled Cold Dark Place. The tunes further demonstrate Mastodon's ability to create epic songs that stretch over five minutes and incorporate elements of progressive metal and hard rock.

"North Side Star," "Blue Walsh," and "Cold Dark Place" were recorded while the band was in the studio working on their 2014 album Once More 'Round the Sun.  "Toe to Toes" was written as the band worked on their latest release, Emperor of Sand.

The aggressive guitar riffs of Brent Hinds and Bill Kelliher are complemented by Brann Dailor's solid drumming and Troy Sanders' steady bass playing. The EP features four tracks covering 21 minutes, and the cover artwork was designed by UK artist Richey Beckett.

Cold Dark Place is currently available on Amazon.
