One Direction has faced a large amount of media attention after the release of a video featuring One Direction band members smoking marijuana. You can watch the controversial video at the DailyMail.

Just last month, One Direction were traveling through Peru for the Latin American leg of their 2014 "Where We Are" tour. While en route to their concert, band members, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and three members of the band's crew were filmed lighting a joint. Filmed by Tomlinson, the five minute video features Malik and the three other passengers smoking weed and poking fun at policemen driving by. Louis Tomlinson can be heard saying:

That’s the police. That’s the po po... Nice. I’m trying to blow it into the camera. Smokescreen baby!... That’s just Zayn warming up there before the show. Zayn takes his job very seriously. He makes sure he goes through a two-hour intense warm up regime before every show, just to get himself in the zone. One very, very important factor to Zayn’s warm up, of course is Mary Jane herself. In fact I’m presenting it to him now for some fantastic singing...

On May 28th, Ivan Valero, a senior officer based in the Anti-Drugs Department of the Peruvian National Police, said that the police do not plan to prosecute the two band members and are only concerned with the international trade concerning the marijuana opposed to the actual consumption.
