Dan Aykroyd and Jill Scottt have been cast in Universal and Imagine's upcoming James Brown biopic, entitled Get On Up. The film is being co-produced by Mick Jagger, and is set for an October 17, 2014 release date.

Chadwick Boseman, best known for his portrayal of Jackie Robinson in this year's 42, was cast as James Brown in August. Now it has been announced that Scott (Why Did I Get Married?, Baggage Claim) will play his wife, Susie, and Aykroyd will appear as Ben Bart, Brown's manager for 40+ years. The film will also star Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer as Brown's mother and aunt, respectively. Tate Taylor, who previously wrote, produced and directed The Help, will direct Get On Up.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film's plot will "follow the singer from humble beginnings to the height of stardom while recounting his battle with drug addiction, arrest for domestic violence, and flirtation with financial ruin." Shooting is due to start this month.
