Daniel Lanois, who is most popularly known as a producer for Bob Dylan and U2, stopped by NPR to perform for their Tiny Desk Concert Series. Drummer Brian Blade and bassist Jim Wilson accompanied Daniel for his three song performance. You can watch their instrumental set above.

The trio open with a song titled "Sci Fi," an electronic piece that finds Mr. Lanois playing with various knobs and switches to create interesting sound effects. Drummer Brian Blade keeps a precise rhythm flowing while bassist Jim Wilson supplies a subtle bottom end sound. Not wasting any time, Daniel leads the group into "Elevator." A hypnotic bassline and bursts of snare drum fills provide structure while Daniel inserts atmospheric sound effects. The group ends their set with "Apres Calypso," a funky number to which Daniel contributes experimental noises of beauty.

Lanois' most recent album, Flesh And Machine, is available on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3) and iTunes.
