Danny Brown made a visit to the Sway in the Morning show to talk about the inspiration behind tracks on his newly released album, Old. In the sit-down interview with Heather B, the Detroit lyricist explained how tracks such as "25 Bucks" and "Wonderbread" were created out of actual events that occurred in his rough upbringing.

"25 Bucks" is about my mom braiding hair in the house ..."Wonderbread" is a story about my mom sending me to the store to get some bread and a pop, and a couple dudes decided to beat me up."

The eccentric rapper also explained the delay of the album due to sampling issues being cleared. "Going through sampling clearances, I've never been through stuff like that making a project...but this time it was like no you got to ask Jay Z and Kanye to clear "Dip," and you got to ask Outkast to clear 'Return.'"

Before the interview was finished, Brown graced the microphone to spit a freestyle over Mobb Deep's "Shook Ones." At the 10:43 mark in the video, the raw style of Brown is delivered with witty lines like "Straight up out of poverty, emotion for my robbery, but had no other choice so I had to get it violently."

You can catch Danny Brown in concert, as he is currently touring the states in support of Old. You can stream Old in its entirety via Spotify. Watch his new video “Side B (Dope Song)” on Zumic.
