RHCP fans, are you ready to get down?

Los Angeles' funk rock darlings Red Hot Chili Peppers have shared "Dark Necessities," the first single from the band's upcoming studio album, The Getaway. Listen to it above, via the band's YouTube.

The track begins with Flea's thumping bass, before piano, drums, and keys slowly creep in to deliver a mid-tempo blast of funk rock. Singer Anthony Kiedis' vocals flow with the same familiarity as they did back in the '90s. The track is balanced with piano in the background, adding a mellow element to the overall sound. "Dark Necessities" contains the characteristics of the Peppers' recognizable sound, yet sounds fresh at the same time. We can't wait to hear more from the release.

The Getaway is scheduled to be released on June 17, 2016 via Warner Bros Records. The LP was produced by Danger Mouse and mixed by Nigel Godrich. Pick it up on Amazon.
