On Wednesday, Lady Gaga released a bizarre and somewhat disturbing video, and, unsurprisingly, many were baffled. Perhaps angrier than most was the famous DJ/producer, Deadmou5. He tweeted the following in response to Lady Gaga's video:
What the actual fuck? If some idiot howls in the woods and no one's around, does it make a sound? MYTH BUSTED! I'm inspired... gunna go bark at the moon for a bit, get back in the studio, bark at my computer screen and make duck noises. im an ARTIST!
This prompted an avalanche of angry Little Monsters rallying for Mother Monster as they tweeted insults and suggested Deadmau5 kill himself. He retaliated at the enraged fans and asked if they were promoting suicide. In response to the heated Twitter battle, Lady Gaga reportedly wrote the following letter to her fans:
Monsters, please encourage one another to be accepting and tolerant on the internet. Any monster that is using hateful language and spreading negativity is not standing truly by me. I mean it. I've said this before and I'll say it again. Set an example. Do not defend me this way, focus on the music, thats where my focus is.
Deadmau5 has since removed his offending tweets, and things seem to have quieted down for now. The Abramovic Method Kickstarter campaign - for which Lady Gaga made the strange video - is still on. They are raising money for a building which can serve as a performance and education center. The aim is for people to become better aware of their physical and mental experiences in the present moment.
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga can again focus on her upcoming album, ARTPOP, due out this November.
