Edit: Yahoo took down the Full Performance, and put up these highlight videos:
Should Be Higher:
Soothe My Soul:
Depeche Mode @ SXSW 2013 (March 15, 2013) set list:
2. "Should Be Higher"
3. "Walking in My Shoes"
4. "Barrel of a Gun"
6. "Only When I Lose Myself"
7. "Personal Jesus"
8. "Soft Touch/Raw Nerve"
9. "Soothe My Soul"
10. "Enjoy the Silence"
There's great energy here in the small venue that fit only roughly 800 people. Dave Gahan is dancing all over the stage as the music takes twists and turns. The band locks into trancelike, danceable grooves throughout a set intertwined with ballad-like slow vocal passages. The godfathers of Heavy Industrial Rock came to play!
The sound quality is excellent. It definitely sounds like it's been mixed and mastered professionally. All the instruments and vocals sound great. Unfortunately, the video quality is pretty grainy and I wasn't able to upgrade to HD.
Yahoo Music reports:
On March 15, synthpop legends Depeche Mode played their first-ever South By Southwest show in Austin, Texas. The rare intimate club gig, which was their first proper concert since 2010 (aside from a private show they did for "Live on Letterman"), was presented by Yahoo! at new venue Brazos Hall and attended by the likes of Usher and celebrity manager Scooter Braun, and it was a major black celebration for fans who'd won coveted tickets via a SXSW lottery drawing.
If you weren't one of the lucky 800 festivalgoers who made it into the show--or if you didn't get down to Austin this year--here's your chance to check out Depeche's set, featuring a mix of classic favorites and new cuts from the band's hotly anticipated 13th album Delta Machine, which comes out today. From the new single "Heaven" to the audience singalong of "Enjoy The Silence," check out the Mode's fantastic performance!
