Röyksopp and Robyn's 5 song EP, Do It Again is now available for streaming, days before its May 26th official release date. Stream the album above.
The Norwegian electronic duo and the Swedish singer announced their joint tour late last year, and plans for a mini album soon followed. The pairing seemed like a no-brainer -- they've previously collaborated on Röyksopp's "The Girl and the Robot" from their Junior album and Robyn's "None of Dem" from her Body Talk album. Now that Do It Again is out, we can see the results of their fantastic group pairing.
Album opener "Monument" is a lot more relaxed than what you'd imagine a track from the electronically inclined group to produce -- an indictor of the direction the EP is going. It's a slow burning track that ends with Röyksopp's version of electronic smooth jazz, where we get some unexpected, yet welcome horns.
"Sayit," which saw its music video release earlier this week, jumps into a heavily produced electro house sound. The track doesn't feature any actual singing, but more of a back and forth between Robyn and a creepy robotic voice that complements the heavy techno beats.
"Do It Again" and "Every Little Thing" are two tracks that start off sounding like they could possibly steer into a very Robyn-esque sound, but the production moves it into a new, fresh direction. These two songs make what Röyksopp was talking about in their press release clear: "... this doesn’t sound like Röyksopp featuring Robyn or Robyn produced by Röyksopp, it’s just something else entirely. The word collaboration' has never before been more justified in the world of music!"
The EP closes with the instrumental 10-minute chillwave "Inside The Idle Hour Club," which starts off with simple hypnotic keys while effortlessly layering on more dramatic synth beats until the track smoothly tapers off.
