Dreamville fans rejoice, as yesterday the label released the first glimpse into Revenge of The Dreamers III with the release of the posse cut "Down Bad." Listen above on YouTube.
The song features a good chunk of the Dreamville roster, including head honcho J. Cole with JID, Bas, and EARTHGANG's Johnny Venus (aka Olu O. Fann). Additionally, RCA artist and rising star from Atlanta, Young Nudy, is a featured guest.
Snippets from the studio sessions have been on social media since January, but this is the first time fans have gotten to hear the track in its entirety. Those videos and photos showed that Dreamville invited a cast of unexpected non-label stars to be part of the creative process, including Swizz Beats, Nas, Masego, and T.I., making this one of the most highly anticipated hip hop releases of 2019.
Listeners can instantly fall victim to this track's infectious bounce and cutting vocals. Each rapper provides a unique quirk to the song, from Young Nudy's southern trap insight to JID bombarding people's ears with clever wordplay and Bas surfing on the beat with his nonchalant style. Over a beat which combines old-school breakbeats and samples with new school production, these rappers bring spitfire flows that keep the energy bumping from beginning to end.
Revenge of The Dreamers III hasn't been given an official release date yet but is expected to be released sometime later on this year. Tuesday, the president of Dreamville, Ibrahim Hamad, posted a cryptic tweet which said "Revenge SZN," an indication that the album may be coming soon. Along with "Down Bad," the label also released "Got Me" featuring Ari Lennox, Omen, Ty Dolla $ign & Dreezy.
