Last night, Kendrick Lamar was honored at ASCAP’s Rhythm and Soul Music Awards by receiving the Vanguard Award was presented to him by his mentor, Dr. Dre.
Before inviting K-dot out on the stage, Dre lauded his fellow Compton-born rapper, stating that he "has my full attention [...] unlike other MC's, he approaches his music with vulnerability and humility"
"Kendrick Lamar is a class act," he continued "I'm proud to know him, I'm proud to work with him [...] he's definitely continuing the legacy of Compton. Believe me."
Kendrick Lamar humbly approached the stage in silence, only to pose for a few short photos with Dre before leaving.
The two rappers have worked extensively together, most notably on tracks like "The Recipe" and "Compton" - both featured on Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d city.
