While out on the road with Temples, NYC-based four-piece Drowners swung by Seattle's legendary KEXP for a performance and brief interview.
After an exuberant performance of "Ways To Phrase A Rejection" and "Long Hair" -- the first two songs on this year's self-titled debut LP -- they stopped to talk to host Cheryl Waters about their origins, guitarist Jack Ridley's Seattle roots, and their first European tour.
"A Button On Your Blouse" followed next, a track with more mellow, stripped-down verses and a singalong chorus. The band's songs are short and sweet, marked by catchy melodies and thin, accentuated guitar tones. They closed their set with lead single "Luv, Hold Me Down," filled to the brim with Matthew Hitt's slightly melancholy vocals and precision guitar work. Check out the full video above.
Drowners came out in January of this year and you can purchase it via Amazon.
