The release of Meow The Jewels -- or "internet Christmas" as it's known in my household -- is forthcoming and Run The Jewels have shared a teaser video in which El-P heads down to the Barc Animal Shelter in Brooklyn to find some feline hip hop stars.
The Run The Jewels rapper / producer pulls out his phone and plays some music for the kitties, but none of them seem to be interested in anything but getting petted. He does get a handful of meows, but the cats seem relatively unenthusiastic about the whole hip hop thing. A resident dog, however, growls when El-P approaches him. "This is exactly why this record is not called Bark The Jewels," he says. Watch the clip above.
So far, the Meow The Jewels Kickstarter has raised more than $59,500, almost $15,000 more than their stated $45,100 goal. The crowdfunding campaign is ongoing, so head to the official Kickstarter page to pledge and get your copy of the record.
The real Run The Jewels 2 will be out October 27th. Pre-order the album on their official website.
