With the release date quickly approaching, Universal Pictures has released a new trailer for the upcoming James Brown biopic, Get On Up. Watch the first official trailer right here at Zumic. The film will illustrate the ups and downs of the Godfather of Soul's life and career. The second preview for the film has a less structured narrative, but it gives viewers a few quick shots to keep them hooked until the film's release on August 1st, 2014. Some of these moments include James Brown punching a fellow prison inmate, nearly crashing on a flight to Vietnam, and clips of his defining dances moves and hairdos.

The film is directed by Tate Taylor (The Help) and stars Chadwick Boseman (42) as the iconic James Brown, as well as Dan Aykroyd, Viola Davis, and Octavia Spendcer. Aside from the film itself, there is a lot of excitement surrounding the film's soundtrack featuring many of James Brown's biggest hits, as well as help from contemporary artists such as Jill Scott. The soundtrack will be released July 29th, 2014 and you can preorder it on Amazon.

If the trailer above is any indication of the film itself, then it will definitely be an entertaining viewing experience. Recently, Dan Aykroyd appeared on The Tonight Show to promote the film and performed James Brown's "I'll Go Crazy," which you can watch right here on Zumic.
