3D printing and stop motion animation allow for a totally customizable music video experience and Cut Copy are at the forefront of the technology. They have just released the music video for "We Are Explorers," a track from last year's Free Your Mind, and the video features two glow-in-the-dark 3D printed figurines doing some exploring of their own.
What's more unique about the clip -- which was directed by Masa Kawamura, Qanta Shimizu, and Aramique Krauthamer -- is that now anyone with access to a 3D printer can download the files and continue the story.
The new music video for Cut Copy's "We Are Explorers" is a 3D-printed story. It starts with you. Download the BitTorrent Bundle to unlock the “We Are Explorers” music video. Then, use the 3D files to print, shoot and reshape the narrative any way you want. This is an open call for exploration.
Unfortunately, the Zumic 3D printer is in the shop, but if you have access to one, please share whatever creation you come up with. Download the files and find more information at the project's Bittorrent page.
