Mark Ronson Discusses How He Wrote "Uptown Funk"

Mark Ronson and Mystikal are definitely bringing the funk back! The English producer and New Orleans rapper hit the stage on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to perform the infectious single, "Feel Right." With The Roots backing them, Ronson and Mystikal give us a soul-filled, stellar performance in their flashy blazers. Mystikal's highly energetic stage presence is reminiscent of the legendary father of funk, James Brown.

Backstage, Ronson shared the story of writing "Uptown Funk" with Bruno Mars, Jeff Bhasker, and Philip Lawrence. It's an interesting take on the creative process as he explains the progression from a jam session with himself on bass, with Mars on drums and Bhasker on synthesizer. They started with the groove and then the lyrics came together. After that initial session, there was a bit of a hold up to get the song finished but their persistence paid off as the song shot up to #1 as the biggest hit in Ronson's solo career thus far.
