The Black Keys swung by SNL this week to perform a couple tracks from their new album, Turn Blue.

Charlize Theron introduced the band and they kicked things off with "Fever." The performance of the was fairly subdued, with Dan Auerbach's manic energy traded in for a more chilled-out session. The live version didn't match the sweaty intensity of the recently released music video, but the on-demand nature of playing SNL may have slowed them down.

They made up for the lackluster "Fever" with a better take on "Bullet in the Brain." The song starts off slow and builds to the high-energy chorus. Patrick Carney's drumming becomes impassioned and Auerbach's vocals loosen up for the song, with Richard Swift's bass guitar and John Wood's keyboard driving the song to its close. Watch the videos above.

Fun fact: Dan Auerbach's SNL guitar is a Custom Kraft from St. Louis Music who built guitars for Kay, Harmony, and Supro / Valco.

The Black Keys are heading out on a massive tour this September and pre-sale begins Tuesday, May 13th. Get dates, details, and ticket info right here at Zumic. For more news, music, and videos, check out The Black Keys' Zumic artist page.
