Kanye West has brought his minimalistic electronic touch to Lorde's "Yellow Flicker Beat" for The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part I. Listen above, via YouTube.
Compared to Lorde's original version of the song, which was produced by Paul Epworth, Kanye's rework is a haunting tune that actually matches up a lot better with the lyrical content. Lorde's vocals are front-and-center, with only a few sparse instruments and percussive sounds supporting her. This version of the song is an intense slow burner, proving that sometimes you can get more emotion with less instrumentation.
